FotoTV wins German IPTV award for best business model

COLOGNE, GERMANY, November 29, 2009 /24-7PressRelease/ -- The InternetTV for photography, FotoTV has won the third German IPTV Award in the category of 'Best Business model'. The Founder and CEO of FotoTV Marc Ludwig, received the Award in person yesterday, at the Awards Ceremony in Berlin.

The German IPTV Awards started three years ago, honors innovative and successful businesses in the IPTV segment. FotoTV being one of the winners of this year disproves the popular belief that paid content in the Internet does not work.

'We are pleased to receive this Award', says Marc Ludwig at the Awards Ceremony. This further confirms that FotoTV is a pioneer in paid content on the Internet. It has for several years used a business model that other Internet based content providers are only now discovering as a sustainable model.

Adds Mr. Ludwig, 'three years ago when we decided to charge our users for the content we were considered to be exotic, today we are the vanguards of a business model that many hope to achieve!"

"Over the last few months we were often told that our decision to charge users for content will not succeed in the Internet" explains Marc Ludwig, "now even publishing houses and other Internet based businesses are beginning to realize that free content on the Internet does not bring revenues at the end of the day and so needs to be combined with paid content!"
FotoTV has become an exemplification of successful paid business models on the Internet!

The team at FotoTV under the leadership of Marc Ludwig has produced an unsurpassed collection of videos on photography in less than three years! FotoTV (together the German version at http://www.FotoTV.de and the English version at http://www.FotoTV.com) boast a collection of 600 videos on all aspects of photography. Nikon Girl music video, The Photo Club

Pick up Photo Club MP3's here https://sites.fastspring.com/thephoto...

Lyrics

This is a story from not long ago
about a boy and a girl who fell in love like whoa
but there was a problem I didn't count on
the fact I was a Canon and she was a Nikon

The photo community was too far gone
they couldnt appreciate what we had goin' on
we had similar features, made similar pictures
we really weren't that different but they still couldn't see

I auto focused on her sexy body
buttons to push didn't know where to get started
I never thought I'd fall for a D200
but she was so hot, she was all that I wanted

[Chorus]
My 1DS mark III
felt more complete
when we were together she said my shots were so unique

But soon you'll see
we could never be
like Romeo and Juliette
our families disagreed

Ohh Ahh Polish my lens girl
oooahh polish my lens girl
ohh-ahh polish my lens girl
dont leave a thumb print on that lense girl

The two sides always at war
all across the message boards
Dpchallenge what the fuck yo
they could never let go
of the hate no thats for 'sho
the Nikon gang whooped my ass and made me go

The 70-200 in my pants wouldnt fit inside her Nikon body
made me wear a UV-filter, which I'm against, but shes my shawtay
Mount her on my tripod and screw her on and off and on again
make her take my picture and say I'm the best thats ever been

[Chorus]

Cause I'm a Canon gangsta and your a Nikon shawtay
I wanna take a picture of that rockin bootay

We couldnt keep the act up we just had to face the facts
but hey look on the bright side at least we're not a Pentax

The improved Wizard offers fast color and tone correction in as little as two steps while giving pro users direct access to advanced and innovative controls. SkinTune, which represents two years of research and analysis of thousands of skin tones, now offers one-click color correction of portraits and the option to correct just the skin in an image.

Mask Pro's unique Color Decontamination technology allows users to get realistic results by maintaining transparency in hard to mask objects like hair, smoke and glass in a fraction of the time using traditional tools.

nio™ - Your New Gadget Guardian Powered by Bluetooth - Now Available in North America

Prevent the Accidental Loss or Opportunistic Theft of Portable Devices and the Valuable Data They Contain

EDINBURGH, Scotland--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Portable technology users can now harness Bluetooth to defend against the loss or theft of their devices: Following success in the European market, British mobile innovator TenBu announced today that nio™, the gadget that protects valuables such as laptops, BlackBerrys, smartphones and the data they contain, is now available in North America.

Named after the Japanese Guardian Kings, nio creates a selectable security zone of just a few feet - up to 80 - with a Bluetooth tag and an innovative software link that downloads directly onto the user’s cell phone. When the security zone is breached, both the nio tag and the cell phone emit an audible alarm, and a flashing blue light on the tag is triggered.

“It’s easy to forget just how much confidential data is stored on your cell phone or laptop, from photos to contacts, and it’s also easy to forget just how easy it is to lose your cell phone or laptop,” said Ben Hounsell, Director of TenBu Technologies. “nio prevents not only the time, cost and stress of replacing the lost item and its data, but also the very real cost of someone gaining access to and abusing your personal information.”

How nio works:

nio is specifically designed for ease of use. The nio software can control multiple nio tags simultaneously, and each tag can be given an identifying name and image on the cell phone. In extremely high-risk environments, users can activate a Motion Sensor to alert them if anyone moves their tagged item, even within the selected security zone.

A handy “locate” tone helps users find misplaced tagged items, and a calendar feature allows users to preset specific times for the tag to go active – ideal for the commute to work. Uniquely, nio comes equipped with a fully rechargeable battery that can keep nio on standby for several weeks.

A formidable first line of defense against the loss or theft of valuable portable items, nio is compatible with most smartphones.

A video explaining how nio™ works is available here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=erN2evrI4Zs

For more information, visit www.bluenio.com

Or follow nio™ on twitter: www.twitter.com/blueNIO

nio tags are available for the first time in the United States through amazon.com

Book: The Photographer's Eye: Composition and Design for Better Digital Photos

Editorial Reviews
"Beautifully presented with genrous and helpful color illustrations, this book is a very affordable addition to the library of the serious photographer."
-Candian Camera (Feb. 08)

Product Description
Design is the single most important factor in creating a successful photograph. The ability to see the potential for a strong picture and then organize the graphic elements into an effective, compelling composition has always been one of the key skills in making photographs.
Digital photography has brought a new, exciting aspect to design - first because the instant feedback from a digital camera allows immediate appraisal and improvement; and second because image-editing tools make it possible to alter and enhance the design after the shutter has been pressed. This has had a profound effect on the way digital photographers take pictures.
The Photographer's Eye shows how anyone can develop the ability to see and shoot great digital photographs. The book explores all the traditional approaches to composition and design, but crucially, it also addresses the new digital technique of shooting in the knowledge that a picture will later be edited, manipulated, or montaged to result in a final image that may be very different from the one seen in the viewfinder.

Features
  • Covers both traditional in-camera composition and the new opportunities for picture-making made possible by digital imaging editing
  • Shows how to explore situations and locations in order to find the best possible photographic possibilities
  • Uses clear examples from real photographic assignments, with schematic illustrations of how and why the pictures work

Tiofoto 50 Years of Images

Stockholm (SWEDEN) 16 NOVEMBER 2009 - (CEPIC) - Tiofoto is celebrating 50 years in stock photography in 2009, a milestone in stock photography worth noting. The Tiofoto legacy lives on with new Swedish photography side by side with classic images.

In 1959 a group of ten photographers called Tio Fotografer started a stock photo agency they called Tiofoto. The agency provided a common forum where the ten photographers could display and sell their images. Tiofoto was very successful both in Sweden and abroad and came to have a huge impact on Swedish photography. Through the years a lot of talented photographers have been affiliated with the agency. In 2005 the Tiofoto collection was included in NordicPhotos and today there are about 50 photographers connected to the collection.

Maximum image quality meets the comfort of automatic control

Carl Zeiss presents a new series of lenses: ZF.2 for F bayonet

OBERKOCHEN/Germany, 16.11.2009. - Optics specialist Carl Zeiss today announced its introduction of a new series of lenses for the semi-professional market: the ZF.2 with F bayonet for digital SLRs. Thanks to its electronic interface (CPU), these new ZEISS lenses support all- important operations such as the automatic mechanisms for time, aperture setting and program. The CPU also supports manual exposure settings, including those for camera casings that are not AI-compatible. Since the lens now transmits the EXIF data such as manufacturer, date, metering system and exposure to the camera, photographers no longer need to set the parameters manually. These quicker and faster handling capabilities of the ZF.2 lenses are especially useful under hectic shooting conditions.

ZEISS lenses truly come into their own in situations that demand extreme photographic creativity and maximum image quality. Carl Zeiss’ established fixed focal length lenses are known for their high light sensitivity and precise manual handling, leaving the photographer in full control. The new ZF.2 series will be especially interesting for photo enthusiasts who value creative, high-quality images combined with the comfort of automatic settings.

Martin Klottig, Marketing Manager of the Camera Lens Division at Carl Zeiss AG: “The ZF.2 lenses are ideal tools for photographers who want to concentrate more on the subject than on their camera equipment. Whether at a wedding, a toddler’s first steps or impressions from faraway countries, these lenses are perfect for photographers who want to capture once-only moments quickly and accurately. These situations demand first-class technology that captures spontaneous actions without too much effort and delivers fantastic images each time.”

The ZF.2 lenses are available in eight focal lengths, six of which will be available from the end of November: 3,5/18, 2,8/21, 2/35, 1,4/50, 2/50 and 1,4/85. The Distagon T* 2/28 ZF.2 and macro Planar T* 2/100 ZF.2 will be introduced in Spring 2010. “We are currently completely reworking and optimizing the Distagon T* 2.8/25 ZF. As a result, it will be available for other mounts somewhat later,“ says Klottig.

The prices for these new lenses will lie between EUR 545 and EUR 1.386 (excluding VAT). With the new ZF.2 series, Carl Zeiss extends its acclaimed ZF family of lenses, for which there is still high demand and possibly long waiting times.
“We will offer the ZF series as long as the demand lasts,” stresses Klottig.

A list of compatible camera models is available under: ZF.2: SLR lenses with F bayonet mount for cameras from Nikon

ZF.2 with F bayonet for digital SLRs support all- important operations such as the automatic mechanisms for time, aperture setting and program thanks to its electronic interface (CPU).

Alaska Stock Images Expands Reach within Asia

Anchorage, (ALSAKA), 5 NOVEMBER 2009 (CEPIC) - Alaska’s premier photo agency, Alaska Stock Images, has signed agreements with two major Asian distributors of digital image content: Panorama Media Ltd and IPS Japan.

Established in 1993, Panorama Media (www.panoramastock.com) has grown to become the largest online stock photo operation in China with headquarters located in Beijing. Panorama Stock is the Hong Kong and international hub, offering a library of over 1 million creative and editorial images. As a major provider of Rights Managed content, Alaska Stock sees its expansion within the Chinese market as a major step and huge growth area: China now being the third largest economy in the world after the US and Japan.

Alaska Stock Images is very pleased to further extend its Asian distribution reach by adding IPS (http://ipsnet.jp), one of Japan’s most long established Rights Managed distributors. Alaska Stock owner, Jeff Schultz, remarked, “We are delighted to have our Alaska images represented in China by Panorama Stock and feel they are positioned very well to market our unique set of images in the Chinese marketplace.“

Yasuko Kimura, the International Manager at IPS speaks very enthusiastically of the Alaska Stock imagery, citing in particular the relevance of the landscape material to their advertising and poster clients. A positive by-product of greater distribution of Alaskan scenic and striking wildlife imagery within the Japanese market could also be an increase in Japanese tourism to Alaska.

Olympus Announces Expansion of Micro Four Thirds System with Two New Zoom Lenses

Lenses Maximize Design Advantages of Micro Four Thirds System Standard; Offer Outstanding Optical Performance in an Unprecedented Compact, Lightweight Package

CENTER VALLEY, Pa., November 5, 2009 – Olympus announces today that it will introduce two new Micro Four Thirds System lenses in the first half of 2010. The new super wide-angle zoom M. ZUIKO DIGITAL ED 9-18mm f4.0-5.6 lens (18-36mm equivalent) and high-power wide to telephoto zoom M. ZUIKO DIGITAL ED 14-150mm f4.0-5.6 lens (28-300mm equivalent) offer amazing optical performance in an extraordinarily compact and lightweight design that translates into taking your PEN camera anywhere for DSLR-quality images and unmatched freedom and creativity.

The Micro Four Thirds System standard meets the telecentric requirements of the 100 percent dedicated digital design, where light rays must strike the imaging sensor nearly head-on for optimum edge-to-edge image reproduction. This is achieved using a much smaller design than the Four Thirds System standard by reducing the outer diameter of the lens mount by 6mm, and the distance from the lens mount to the focal plane (the flange back distance) by approximately half.

The super wide-angle zoom lens currently in development will maximize the advantages of compact Micro Four Thirds System design with a length of only about 50mm (less than two inches), making it significantly smaller than the Olympus ZUIKO DIGITAL ED 9-18mm F4.0-5.6 (designed for the Four Thirds standard), which has an identical zoom range. In the same manner, the high-power wide to telephoto zoom lens currently in development will be extremely compact, with an exceptionally small lens barrel diameter of only about 65mm (2.5 inches). Offering a zoom range that covers the most commonly used focal lengths, the lens will be compact enough to conveniently leave mounted on the camera all the time.

Both lenses will use ED (Extra-low Dispersion) glass elements to suppress the color aberration that can degrade image quality, particularly at wide-angle focal lengths. As a result, they will offer truly uncompromising image quality and brightness in an extremely compact package.

The two new lenses are being designed for use with the Olympus PEN E-P1, which was introduced in June to an overwhelmingly positive response, and the E-P2, which was also announced today, as well as any other current and future cameras that comply with the Micro Four Thirds System standard. When mounting the lenses on any Olympus PEN camera, users also can take advantage of the camera’s in-body Image Stabilization system, which offers effective camera shake compensation at all focal lengths.

The Olympus E-System, based on the Four Thirds and Micro Four Thirds standards, is designed with revolutionary features that expand the frontiers of digital photography. The ZUIKO and M. ZUIKO lenses offer a 100 percent digital design for edge-to-edge sharpness in a durable yet portable system. Olympus pioneered Full-Time Live View, Dust Reduction and other innovative technologies, leading where others have followed. Proof that Olympus enables consumers to capture it all.
