Latest Hasselblad lenses set to star in future Hollywood blockbusters

Some of the world's leading cinematographers mingled with key Hollywood figures at a packed Los Angeles theatre venue last night (Dec 9) for the launch of latest cutting edge camera technology that will be used to make future big screen blockbusters.

Film-makers were invited to 'test drive' the new ARRI Rental ALEXA 65 camera system, which comes complete with specially adapted Hasselblad HC lenses.

ARRI says the new system (available from January) comprises camera, lenses and a complete image workflow, and has been developed to capture images of 'staggering intensity and definition'.

Said ARRI Managing Director Franz Kraus, "Our goal was simple - to meet and surpass the image quality of 65 mm film. Harking back to the golden age of 65 mm widescreen film-making, the ALEXA 65 camera is a scaled-up version of our ALEXA XT, equipped with a sensor slightly larger than a 5-perf 65 mm film frame that is able to capture an uncompressed and quite astonishing ARRIRAW 65 mm image.

We wanted to build a camera for the most demanding applications in film-making and envisioned a true 65 mm format camera, sharing as many of the technology and imaging attributes of ALEXA as possible. The dynamic range and colorimetry are retained, but to these is added a far greater capacity for capturing fine detail."

He added: "The depth of knowledge within our group, as well as close collaboration with our partners, has enabled us to develop new technologies that will help realize some very special future productions."

Ove Bengtson, Hasselblad Product Manager said: "The Linwood Dunn Theatre - the newest state of the art screening facility for The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (founder of The Oscars Awards) was the obvious venue for the launch of this superb piece of cinematographic technology."

"Hasselblad is delighted to partner with ARRI Rental on the evolution of the ALEXA 65 - a pivotal industry product that showcases the outstanding engineering skills of both companies."

Neil Fanthom, ARRI Rental Global Technical Marketing Executive said: "The 50-110 mm Zoom 65 and the eight Prime 65 lenses, ranging from 24 to 300 mm, utilize high-performance optics from Hasselblad HC lenses, re-housed in robust, cine-performance lens barrels co-developed with IB/E Optics. Equipped with ARRI's Lens Data System (LDS), the lenses permit frame-accurate metadata about focus, iris and zoom settings to be recorded with the image stream, aiding both on-set shot-making and visual effects tasks in post. In addition, a Vintage 765 lens range - originally developed to partner the ARRIFLEX 765 65 mm film camera - has been adapted for use with the ALEXA 65."

"These lenses also utilize original Hasselblad lens elements and provide a classic filmic look with a gradual, soft roll-off across the frame. In the ALEXA 65 we have the best of Hasselblad optics, new and the old being utilised on what we hope will become recognised as the best large format digital cinema camera in the world."

Hasselblad Optical Design expert Per Nordlund said: "Our HC lens range - now adapted for ALEXA 65 as the Prime65 range - is designed for use on what we like to think of as the best digital still image cameras in the world. Cameras available with large format sensors up to 60 MP, and also available in special versions producing image files with up to 200 MP resolution. In the HC range we have been able to achieve a very high level of resolution, while keeping distortion and light fall-off under good control.

The opportunity to use the old lenses for ARRI 765 on the new ALEXA 65 adds another dimension to this camera. Now cinematographers can use those old lenses they know from the past side by side with a very modern and high-performing set of lenses. I think it very neatly ties together past and present."

Recent films serviced by the ARRI Group include: 'Noah', 'Gravity', '12 Years a Slave', 'The Monuments Men', and 'The Wolf of Wall Street'.

* Significant interest in the new camera had already been shown pre-official launch by cinematographers attached to high-profile feature films.

Canon Introduces The World's Longest 4K Ultra-Telephoto Zoom Lens For Large-Format Single-Sensor Cameras

New Canon CINE-SERVO 50-1000mm T5.0-8.9 Ultra-Telephoto Zoom Lens Delivers Industry-Leading Range Up to 1500mm With Built-In 1.5x Extender

MELVILLE, N.Y., October 16, 2014 - With the increasing use of large-format single-sensor 4K cameras for field productions like sports and nature documentaries, Canon U.S.A., Inc., a leader in digital imaging solutions, has introduced the new ultra-telephoto CINE-SERVO 50-1000mm T5.0-8.9 Ultra-Telephoto Zoom lens. With the world's longest focal length (75-1500mm with its built-in 1.5x extender) and highest (20x) magnification among Super 35mm zoom lensesi, the new CINE-SERVO zoom lens offers cinematographers new possibilities for shooting scenes in HD, 2K and 4K on single-sensor cameras. The new Canon CINE-SERVO 50-1000mm zoom lens is an ultra-telephoto lens with superb 4K optical performance and a removable Digital Drive unit to accommodate either broadcast or cinema-style production.

"The use of large-sensor 4K cameras is rapidly spreading beyond motion pictures and episodic television, into many new types of productions such as broadcast sports and nature documentaries," said Yuichi Ishizuka, president and COO, Canon U.S.A., Inc. "We are proud to deliver a lens with the advanced 4K optical performance, impressive focal range and operational versatility required to serve the creative needs of today's growing community of 4K and UHD image makers."

Available in either EF- or PL-mount, the new Canon CINE-SERVO 50-1000mm T5.0-8.9 Ultra-Telephoto Zoom lens leverages Canon's decades of expertise in optical design, computer simulation, and advanced glass materials to achieve a balance of ultra-telephoto 4K optical performance and image brightness with a compact form factor of only 15.9 inches in length (PL version) and a weight of just 14.6 pounds. This combination of advantages provides outstanding aberration correction and high image quality extending from the center of the image to all edges. For professional users, this lens enables close-up 4K imaging of wildlife subjects or athletes while maintaining the physical distances necessary in such shooting situations.

Ruggedly built, the durable new Canon CINE-SERVO 50-1000mm T5.0-8.9 Ultra-Telephoto Zoom lens features a removable Digital Drive unit for traditional EFP-style (electronic field production) operation with a convenient zoom/rocker switch, programmable zoom and focus settings, and data connections for use with broadcast-type field/studio servo-demand controls for zoom and focus. Removal of the drive unit enables Cinema-style operation of the CINE-SERVO 50-1000mm lens, including clearly engraved barrel markings, an 11-blade iris to help achieve smooth "bokeh," and compatibility with lens-support rods, matte boxes, and other cinema accessories.
Lens-Camera Communication

The new Canon CINE-SERVO 50-1000mm T5.0-8.9 Ultra-Telephoto Zoom lens is compliant with industry-standard camera-to-lens communication protocols to help ensure compatibility and maximum performance with multiple brands and models of 4K, UHD and HD cameras. These standards include 12-pin serial communication (common to major broadcast camera brands), Cooke's /i Technology and Canon EOS-LENS data communication technology (employed by the EOS C500, EOS-1D C, EOS C300 and EOS C100 Cinema cameras). In the case of the Canon Cinema EOS system, precise lens data - including aperture setting - is displayed in the EOS camera's viewfinder, as well as recorded in the video file as metadata along with the model name of the lens and the given focal-length setting.
Broadcast-Style Operation

The new Canon CINE-SERVO 50-1000mm T5.0-8.9 Ultra-Telephoto Zoom lens integrates advanced broadcast-style operability features that Canon developed as a leading maker of HDTV lenses for major sports coverage, wildlife photography, and ENG (Electronic News Gathering). These features include servo control of focus, zoom, and iris settings via the lens' removable Digital Drive unit. Ergonomically designed for operator comfort, the unit integrates a high-precision, high-resolution 16-bit microprocessor encoder linked to a convenient zoom/rocker switch that provides immediate start-up. This encoder enables camera operators to smoothly zoom at a variety of speeds, from a very fast 1.5 seconds to a very slow 180 seconds from full-wide to full-telephoto. Additionally, the encoder is capable of transmitting accurate analog and serial data for zoom, focus and iris settings through the Drive unit's 20-pin connector, allowing for this lens to be incorporated into most existing virtual imaging systems.

Operators can also manually control focus and iris settings from the drive unit or use it to program focus, zoom position/speed, and iris settings if desired, allowing for precise, repeatable lens operation. A small LCD display on the drive unit displays current settings for operators. Focus can also be adjusted manually by rotating a knurled rubber collar on the lens. Combining both broadcast operability and the accuracy required by cinematographers, the lens features a 180-degree focus rotation angle. With environmental-performance capabilities that stand up to typically unforgiving broadcast sports and wildlife shooting environments, the lens employs a tough, optimal chassis structure, and is weather and shock resistant. In addition to its three 20-pin connectors, the drive unit also has a broadcast-standard 12-pin power connection for remote-control operation. The lens also utilizes 700mA of power.
Cinema-Style Operation

With its Digital Drive unit/hand grip removed, the new Canon CINE-SERVO 50-1000mm T5.0-8.9 Ultra-telephoto Zoom lens provides digital filmmakers with the advantages of its industry-leading 1500mm focal length (with 1.5x extender) and 4K optical performance. Facilitating cinema-style use, lens-barrel markings are clearly engraved in both feet and meters on both sides of the barrel, and focus indicators on the front side of the lens are marked on an inclined surface to make them easy to see from the back of the camera. Additionally, luminous paint is used for the scale display on one side of the barrel to help make the markings visually identifiable in the dark. Both 0.8 type and 0.5 type gear module focus accessories can be used, and gear positions support the use of a follow focus and all other standard electronic accessories. With a 31.4mm image circle, this lens will cover industry standard Super-35mm format sensors.

A red alumite identity color is used for the lens' mount area to indicate conformance with Canon Cinema EOS optical technology's many outstanding features such as support for EOS-LENS data communication. A structure enabling the lens' EF mount to be replaced with a PL mount, or vice versa (electrical system included), is also incorporated. This conversion upgrade can be provided at authorized Canon service centers. The EF and PL versions of the lens are designated CN20x50 IAS H/E1 and CN20x50 IAS H/P1, respectively.

The new Canon CINE-SERVO 50-1000mm T5.0-8.9 Ultra-Telephoto Zoom lens joins Canon's CINE-SERVO 17-120mm T2.95 lens, CN-E15.5-47mm T2.8 L and CN-E30-105mm T2.8 L Compact Cinema Zoom lenses, CN-E30-300mm T2.95-3.7 L and CN-E14.5-60mm T2.6 L full-size Cinema zooms, and six Cinema prime lenses as a comprehensive Canon family of professional lenses designed to meet a wide variety of 4K single-sensor Super35mm digital production needs. Canon is a leading global lens brand serving photographers, sports producers, broadcasters, and theatrical filmmakers. Earlier this year, the Company celebrated a milestone having produced its 100 millionth EF lens*.

Pricing and Availability
The new Canon CINE-SERVO 50-1000mm T5.0-8.9 Ultra-telephoto Zoom lens is expected to be available in the first quarter of 2015 for a suggested list price of $78,000. BenVista releases PhotoZoom Pro 6

ARNHEM, September 22, 2014 – Today BenVista announced the release of their new photo resizing software PhotoZoom Pro 6. The product, available for OS X and Windows, works both as a stand-alone application and as a plug-in for various host programs such as Photoshop.

The PhotoZoom series is specialized in enlarging (and downsizing) digital images while preserving maximum quality. It is the only software to use BenVista's in-house developed S-Spline resize technology. With PhotoZoom Pro 6, BenVista says to have further improved the technology, which has been under development for the past fifteen years.

"In PhotoZoom Pro 6, we have reinforced our S-Spline Max algorithm with improved detection of tiny details and subtle edges. During enlargement, these are now being reconstructed in a smart way, yielding extremely true-to-nature results. The improvements are particularly spectacular with low resolution originals, which often contain lots of delicate details," says D.S. Schoolwerth, CEO at BenVista.

Schoolwerth adds, "Moreover, PhotoZoom Pro 6 comes with a new option to enhance the vividness of photos. This comes in very handy when enlarging originals that look a bit dim or lacklustre. PhotoZoom Pro 6 will not only turn them into perfect enlargements, but can also bring these photos to life by adding some extra sunshine."

Other improvements are split screen previewing for making live comparisons between different resize methods, improved GPU acceleration for increased speed, and new presets that were specially designed for various types of photos and graphics. Also, PhotoZoom Pro 6 now supports Raw images both as a plug-in and stand-alone application.

Demo versions of PhotoZoom Pro 6 can be downloaded directly from the BenVista website: www.benvista.com. Upgrade options are available for existing PhotoZoom users.

The 150-600mm F/5-6.3 DG OS HSM Contemporary is a versatile lens that offers similar performance in a more compact and portable design. Pricing and availability of these lenses are not yet available.

Both versions of the 150-600mm F/5-6.3 DG OS HSM feature dust and splash-proof features, as well as new water and oil-repellent coating on the front and rear lenses. They boast an updated Optical Stabilizer (OS) that features an accelerometer for improved vertical and horizontal panning, essential for bird, wildlife and motor sports photography. Two new switches were added for ease-of-use, including a new zoom lock switch capable of locking at any focal distance and a Manual Override (MO) switch for improved control of focusing performance. An enhanced auto focus (AF) algorithm and Hyper Sonic Motor ensure quiet and fast AF. The lenses are compatible with Sigma’s newly announced lineup of Global Vision teleconverters, which are effective up to F/8.

“The Global Vision Art, Sports and Contemporary lines were developed to help photographers identify lenses that are best suited to their specific photography and these two lenses are perfect examples of that intent,” Mark Amir-Hamzeh, president of Sigma Corporation of America. “While they share a focal length and many outstanding features, these lenses are designed with different photographers in mind. Both high-performance lenses, one is for the professional-grade action shooter; the other for photographers looking for high performance and portability.”

The 150-600mm F5-6.3 DG OS HSM Sports offers the highest level of performance and durability with a splash and dust proof construction, and features dimensions of 4.8 inches by 11.4 inches, with a weight of 100.9 ounces. It contains 24 lens elements in 16 groups – including two FLD and three SLD glass elements – with a minimum aperture of F/22 and minimum focusing distance of 102.4 inches. Its maximum magnification ratio is also 1:5. The Sports lens will be available in Sigma, Canon and Nikon mounts.

The 150-600mm F5-6.3 DG OS HSM Contemporary lens is the first hyper-telephoto zoom lens from the Global Vision Contemporary line, and will enable easy handling with a smaller build than its Sports counterpart. It is equipped with a splash and dust proof mount, and while the weight of the lens is still to be determined, its dimensions will be 4.1 inches by 10.2 inches. The lens will feature 20 elements in 14 groups – including one FLD and three SLD glass elements – with a minimum aperture of F/22 and minimum focusing distance of 110.2 inches. Its maximum magnification ratio is 1:5. It will be available in Sigma, Canon, Nikon and Sony mounts.

All of Sigma’s Global Vision lenses are compatible with the company’s USB dock and Mount Conversion Service, and undergo individual testing before being shipped. Using the USB Dock allows for advanced customization of AF speed, OS viewing modes, focus limiter and firmware updates. Every Sigma Global Vision lens is tested with Sigma’s proprietary “A1” MTF measuring system prior to shipping to ensure optimal performance and image quality.

The company will be exhibiting at the 2014 Photokina in Cologne, Germany, later this month. The latest lenses from the Global Vision lineup will be on display at the event and attendees are invited to stop by booth #B20/C29 in Hall 4.2. New Photo Distribution Site Goes Live

Pixlater, an easy-to-use, super slick online tool that automatically distributes amateur and professional photographers’ photos to their favorite photography sharing websites launches its public Beta.

(PRWEB) September 12, 2014 - Photographers who wish to become members of the Pixlater photo distribution site are invited to send their request via this link: http://www.pixlater.com/signup.

Simon Gelfand, cofounder of Pixlater, said the new website and product, called Pixlater, is the only product currently available for social photo sharing targeted for professional photographers.

“We believe photographers should spend their time taking photos, not uploading them, and Pixlater was designed to give them this creative freedom,” said Gelfand.

According to Gelfand, the new Pixlater site is a great time saving tool, which proves more time for photographers to do what they do best – take photos.

“Not only is Pixlater an easy to use tool that automatically distributes your photos to your favorite photography sharing websites, such as 500px, Flickr, Facebook and more, it was designed to free up your (photographer) valuable time and allow him or her to manage their online photography life with ease,” explained Gelfand.

He added that the Pixlater site would give photographers’ work the exposure they so badly needed.

ABOUT PIXLATER
Pixlater, founded by Simon Gelfand and Eyal Halimi, is an online service that was created out of a need. On a recent trip to Iceland, Simon and Eyal took some incredible photos, but found themselves wasting loads of time uploading them to the various photography and social media websites they belong to. Pixlater was born to answer this need. Pixlater is simply an easy-to-use online tool that will save photographers valuable time and allow them to manage their online photography life with ease.

Seriously Capable, Surprisingly Compact: Packing Pro Features and FX-Format Image Quality, The Nikon D750 is the Full Frame D-SLR That's Been Worth Waiting For

Along With the D750, Nikon Announces Attractive New Offerings for Advanced Enthusiast and Professional Photographers, Including the SB-500 Speedlight and AF-S NIKKOR 20mm f/1.8G ED Lens

MELVILLE, NY – Today, Nikon Inc. announced the D750, the D-SLR that provides adept enthusiasts with the powerful combination of pro-caliber photo and video features with FX-format image quality. The new D750 represents a leap forward for this camera segment, inheriting some of the best elements from Nikon’s revered full-frame professional cameras, with new and refined features aimed at sparking creativity and sharing with built-in Wi-Fi. Additionally, Nikon has also announced the SB-500, a versatile yet compact multimedia Speedlight, and Nikon’s fastest ultra wide-angle lens yet, the new AF-S NIKKOR 20mm f/1.8G ED. These new products easily supplement a professional’s kit, while making it more appealing than ever for enthusiasts to discover the intense and immersive image quality that only an FX-format sensor can offer.
“The Nikon D750 is the camera many have been waiting for; never before has this level of functionality and vast feature set been offered in a full frame D-SLR, at such an attractive price,” said Masahiro Horie, Director of Marketing and Planning, Nikon Inc. “These new products, including the SB-500 Speedlight and 20mm f/1.8 lens are meant to directly address those who care about image quality and want the gear that will help drive their passion to the next level.”

Serious Features for Advanced Shooters
The new Nikon D750 provides professional-level features and performance in a durable, lightweight body. Whether the user is an advanced enthusiast or seasoned pro in need of a second body, the D750 easily complements any photographic discipline with a pro-caliber capability.

Sharp landscapes and portraits are simple with Nikon’s advanced 51-point AF system, the same used on Nikon’s high-end D-SLRs. The Advanced Multi-Cam 3500-FX II AF focus system also easily tracks fast moving wildlife or sports, even at the rapid, high-speed burst rate of 6.5 frames per second (fps), at full resolution. Similar to the Nikon D4S, the D750 features the 91,000-pixel 3D Color Matrix Meter III and its blazing fast AF system uses 15 cross-type AF sensors for enhanced accuracy, with 11 cross-type sensors that are fully functional up to f/8. In addition to normal, wide area, face priority and subject tracking AF modes, the D750 also features the new Group Area AF mode for enhanced accuracy. Challenging light such as a poorly lit wedding reception is also no problem for the D750, as the AF system has been improved with the ability to lock on to subjects in as little as -3 EV illumination, a first for any Nikon D-SLR.

The D750 is Nikon’s first FX-format D-SLR with a tilting Vari-Angle LCD, with robust construction to meet the needs of working in the field. The precision 3.2-inch, 1,229K dot screen tilts to accommodate shooting overhead, at waist level and is ideal for shooting photos or HD video on a tripod. For those serious about using a D-SLR for video, the D750 delivers the same level of functionality found in the Nikon D810, with the maximum amount of manual control that’s essential for production applications.

Next Level Image Quality
The Nikon D750 features a newly developed 24.3-MP FX-format CMOS sensor to provide adept photographers with image quality that’s nothing short of astounding; with rich colors, beautiful gradation and a vast dynamic range. A myriad of other intelligent features help photographers to unlock their potential to create and share vibrant, tack-sharp images that takes an imaginative story from concept to reality.

The new Nikon D750 features the EXPEED 4 Image Processing Engine, similar to the pro-level D810 and D4S. In addition to increasing energy efficiency and performance, EXPEED 4 contributes to the overall image excellence with noise reduction performance and other benefits.

Whether shooting a vista bathed in full sun to a reception in minimal light, the camera produces images with exceptionally low noise in a variety of lighting conditions. The broad ISO range extends from 100-12,800, expandable from (Lo-1) 50 to (Hi-2) 51,200.

Highlight Weighted Metering is ideal for capturing stage performances and events, preventing blown-out highlights in photo and video.

The D750 also features the latest generation of Nikon’s Advanced Picture Control settings. The “Clarity” setting enhances midtones to emphasize intense image details and “Flat” Picture control is used for a broad tonal range, which is ideal for photo and video applications. Picture controls are also customizable in .25 increments, for maximum versatility in any shooting situation.

Full Control of Advanced Video Features
The D750 features the same level of advanced video functionality as the Nikon D810, an HD-SLR known in studios and on-set for its professional production pedigree. The camera can capture video in Full HD 1920x1080 resolution at 60/30/24p and gives videographers and multimedia artists full manual control, including aperture adjustment. Like D810, the Power Aperture feature provides smooth transitions while adjusting the aperture during recording, and in manual mode, users can control shutter speed and ISO.

The D750’s compact size and affordability will make it a welcome addition to any production environment, as will its FX and DX-format crop modes that make it a snap to adjust the focal range without swapping lenses. Implementing another indispensable feature on-set, footage can be recorded to the dual SD memory card slots, or simultaneously output to an external recorder or monitor via HDMI for a variety of applications. Camera operators will also enjoy features such as headphone and microphone jacks, Zebra stripes to spot overexposed areas, as well as the ability to select frequency ranges for the internal stereo microphone. For time lapse, the camera utilizes Exposure Smoothing, a great feature that creates balanced exposure transitions between frames when using the time lapse or intervalometer feature.

FX-Format Connectivity
The Nikon D750 is Nikon’s first full frame D-SLR to include built-in Wi-Fi, which enables photographers to both share their images and capture remotely. Using Nikon’s free Wireless Mobile Utility App1, users can connect with their compatible mobile device, such as a smart phone or tablet. Once connected, a tap on the screen engages auto focus, while the camera can be triggered remotely, making it easy to position the camera in areas where access could be difficult. Once downloaded, users can also utilize popular applications and social networks to seamlessly share images, bringing the exciting image quality of full-frame to the feeds of friends and family, on the fly. The feature can also be used to scout and send location photos to clients, or instantly deliver photos processed with the in-camera editing features.

For professional photographers and videographers, the camera also has the capability to transmit images over FTP using the WT-5a wireless transceiver plus the UT-1 Communications Unit. With these optional accessories, the camera can be triggered and controls operated in HTTP mode using the web browser of a mobile device. Live view as well as start/stop recording can also be enabled remotely, providing the ability to capture otherwise impossible footage, for example when the camera is mounted on a crane.

Command Agility and Durability
The camera is manufactured using a “monocoque” structural skin technique, which adopts durable carbon fiber for the front body and front cover, and resilient magnesium alloy for the rear cover and top cover. The resulting camera body is the ideal balance of substantial build quality and compact, yet lightweight design for comfortable all-day shooting. The structure is also sealed and gasketed to resist dust and moisture, and the shutter has been tested to 150,000 cycles. To further enhance build quality, the 3.2-inch tilting Vari-Angle LCD screen is joined to the camera using a durable three-axis metal mount, designed to withstand the rigors of professional use. Users can also opt to compose through a bright viewfinder with 100% frame coverage, with shooting info displayed using organic EL illumination.

From a newlywed’s first kiss to a bouquet toss, a split-second can make or break an image; ergonomics and the ability to quickly adjust camera functions are important factors to consider for enthusiasts and pros. The new body design ensures a secure and comfortable grip regardless of the size of user’s hands, while button placement is considered for peak performance.

Comprehensive Photographic System
Whether upgrading a current system or switching to Nikon’s legendary image quality, Nikon offers an all-inclusive system of NIKKOR Lenses, Speedlights and accessories for every type of photographer. The Nikon D750 is compatible with more than 80 FX and DX-format NIKKOR lenses, the same optics that have built a lasting legacy of amazing image quality with brilliant sharpness and faithful color reproduction. For those upgrading from a DX-format lens system the D750 can also shoot in DX mode at 10.3-megapixels.  The camera is compatible with Nikon’s Creative Lighting System (CLS) using the camera’s built in flash to control remote Speedlights for creative lighting possibilities. The new MB-D16 battery pack will also be released with the camera, to provide users with extended battery life as well as a functional vertical grip.

AF-S NIKKOR 20mm f/1.8G ED: Fast Ultra Wide-Angle Lens
The AF-S NIKKOR 20mm f/1.8G ED is the latest addition to Nikon’s popular f/1.8 series of FX-format lenses, which provide enthusiast photographers with fast, quality optics at an attractive price. This is Nikon’s first ultra wide angle lens with an f/1.8 aperture, allowing users to shoot in challenging light and create images with a pleasing separation between subject and background. With a 94-degree angle of view (FX), the lens is ideal for architecture, interiors, wide-angle landscape and creative group portraits. When paired with the compact D750, this lens is also a great solution for video applications that call for shooting in cramped quarters. This AF-S lens provides whisper quiet and fast autofocus capability, an internal focus design, and features Nikon’s exclusive Nano Crystal Coat to reduce instances of ghost and flare.

SB-500: Versatile and Compact Video Speedlight
The SB-500 Speedlight is an exciting addition to Nikon’s Speedlight lineup, offering users the unbeatable yet versatile combination of a compact yet powerful Speedlight and LED video light, covering a wide 16mm/24mm (FX/DX). The controls on the SB-500 are simplified, making it easy to explore the possibilities of creative lighting with Speedlights. For full control over illumination, the head of the Speedlight has a 90-degree vertical swivel to bounce light off ceilings, and rotates 180-degrees for soft lighting effects. For remote lighting possibilities, the SB-500 Speedlight can be integrated into a CLS system with two-group/two-channel control. The powerful LED light (100 lux) is a great option for lighting video, and can be operated independently.  Additionally, the SB-500 Speedlight is also powered by only two AA batteries, reducing both its weight and size.
