CANON U.S.A. ANNOUNCES NEW OFFICE ALL-IN-ONE PRINTERS TO FURTHER ENHANCE THE HOME OFFICE PHOTO EXPERIENCE

New Office All-In-Ones Offer Print, Copy, Scan and Fax Capabilities for the Home Office Professional

LAKE SUCCESS, N.Y., February 3, 2009 – Canon U.S.A., Inc., a leader in digital imaging, has announced two additions to the popular Office All-In-One (AIO) line-up - the PIXMA MX860 and PIXMA MX330 printers. Ideal for the small business operating out of the home, the versatility and overall ease-of-use of these two new Office AIO printers provide users with the comfort of knowing the finished product, whether it is a business presentation or a photo from a family vacation, will be of high-quality.

The Canon PIXMA MX860 Office AIO printer features Advanced Media Handling with Auto Duplex copying, printing and two-way paper feeding. The Auto Duplexing feature permits two-sided copying/scanning of letter-sized documents, without the need to manually turn over pages and re-feed the document. When copying, this printer even has the ability to scan and print at the same time, which can dramatically reduce the amount of time it will take to complete a project.

For the first time, a PIXMA Office AIO printer, the PIXMA MX860, will have Wireless LAN (802.11b/g)1 capabilities and an Ethernet network connection built-in for easy printing and scanning with multiple personal computers. In conjunction with Canon's Generation Green initiative, both of these new Office AIO printers will have the Quick Start feature. The LCD changes from the start-up screen to the initial stand-by mode in a few seconds after pressing the power key, enabling input on the buttons to start operation.

"With the emergence of the home office, having a product that can perform many different tasks is essential," said Yuichi Ishizuka, senior vice president and general manager, Consumer Imaging Group, Canon U.S.A. "These two new Office AIO printers provide the consumer with the comfort of knowing all of their business and personal printing needs can be done from their home."

The Canon PIXMA MX860 and PIXMA MX330 Office AIO printers feature the easy-to-use advanced copy function so common copy adjustments, such as erasing the frame created around a small scan, can be easily made right from the AIO printer control panel. The Auto Scan Mode2 automatically recognizes the type of document being worked on so it can be scanned and saved quickly and easily in the right format. In addition, scanned JPEG and PDF data can be saved directly to a memory card3 or a USB flash drive when attached to either of these printers.

Canon has equipped each unit with color Super G34 fax capabilities with improved speed and ease-of-use in mind. It includes features that allow users to receive up to 250 incoming pages in memory5 on the PIXMA MX860 Office AIO printer and 50 pages of incoming data in memory5 on the PIXMA MX330 Office AIO printers.

There will be new security features on both Office AIO printers to help protect important documents. One feature is designed to prevent users from misdialing while faxing by asking for a confirmation of the fax number originally entered before the fax is sent. If these two numbers do not match, the fax will not go through. Another security feature is the ability to create PDF files with password protection which will restrict access to printing or editing files without the proper authority.

For the photo enthusiast who is looking for an Office AIO printer that can produce high-quality photos, both Office AIO printers are up to the task. Each printer comes equipped with the ChromaLife100+ ink system6, which provides more vibrant and longer-lasting photos. To further enhance the home office photo experience, the hybrid system, which is made up of dye and pigment ink, delivers vivid, beautiful photos on photo paper and sharp, crisp text on plain paper. The Auto Photo Fix feature detects the type of photo being printed and is able to help correct red-eye problems, enhance facial tones and optimize brightness and contrast while improving color saturation to provide better looking photo output without manual photo editing.

The CIS scanner allows for high-quality, high-speed scans as well with an optical resolution of up to 2400 dpi9.
PIXMA MX330 OFFICE ALL-IN-ONE PRINTER

Canon Supports ISO/IEC 24734 and 24735 Productivity Standards
Helping customers better evaluate and compare print speeds of various printer models, Canon will utilize the ISO/IEC 24734 and 24735 FDISS (Final Draft International Standards)10 for measuring print and copy speed. The proposed standards, which are in the final review stage under the FDIS (Final Draft International Standard) before official publication, measure print and copy output in images-per-minute (ipm), and calculate print and copy speed by printing out a number of standard Microsoft Excel, Word and PDF documents on letter-sized paper in default mode. Using these FDISS, the new PIXMA MX860 Office AIO printer will deliver output at 8.4 ipm for black-and-white documents and 5.6 ipm for color10, while the PIXMA MX330 Office AIO printer will create letter-sized documents at 7.5 ipm for black-and-white and 4.5 ipm for color documents10.
