More than 500 VIP guests attended the opening of the Hasselblad Masters finalist exhibition in Copenhagen. During the event, held at the DASK Gallery, guests were entertained by two Masters photographers: Marco Grob, New York-based, Swiss-born fashion and portrait photographer; and Hans Strand, Swedish landscape and nature photographer.

Grob and Strand presented classes, demonstrating tips and tricks with the H3DII and answering any questions the VIP guests posed. Hasselblad Master Rene Riis, a Copenhagen-based food photographer, also led a photography class and answered questions for attendees.

The 500 VIP guests were delighted to be the first in Scandinavia to see the 100 Hasselblad Masters finalists’ pictures. Among the other Master finalists attending the opening were Portuguese wedding photographer Joao Carlos and Belgian fine art portrait photographer Jan C. Schlegel.

Earlier in August, from August 21-30, the traveling tour kicked off in Hong Kong. The next stop is New York City. On October 22 - during PhotoPlus Expo - a Masters Exhibition and VIP get together will be held at MILK Studio, 450 W. 15th Street. In December, the exhibition heads for London.

Each Masters exhibition is created in collaboration with HP, Hahnemühle, SanDisk, and Broncolor. HP printed the 100 finalist images with their new Designjet Z3200 Photo Printer on the TIPA award-winning Photo Rag Baryta paper from Hahnemühle. TIPA-winning Broncolor - for Best Studio Flash Generator: Broncolor Scoro A4S - is providing high-end lighting equipment for the exhibition sites, and SanDisk is supplying CompactFlash memory cards to the winners, as they did last year.

From the more than 3,000 photographers who submitted portfolios to the competition, 10 were selected in each of the 10 Masters categories: Architecture, Editorial, Fashion, Fine Art, General Photography, Nature/Landscape, Portrait, Product, Social/Wedding, and Upcoming. One photo from each finalist photographer is now touring.
