Lndon (UK), MAY 2009 - Following on from a tender process, The Photolibrary Group is pleased to announce that it has been awarded the license to manage and distribute exclusively the imagery and footage collection of Britain on View, the on-line image resource of VisitBritain.
This collection represents the UK's Official Tourism Image Collection offering unique images of both Britain as a destination and of British life. The tender process was won against major industry players and shows our commitment to providing our customers with the broadest possible reach of content. As part of the long term license arrangement, Photolibrary will develop and manage a commercially orientated website specializing in UK related material, http://www.britainonview.com. This site is due for launch on 1 July 2009. VisitBritain also intends to invest in further image production over the coming few years adding more content to the already substantial archive.
Glenn Parker, Photolibrary Group CEO says "this exclusive agreement with Britain on View cements our position as the viable alternative to the creative community when looking for exclusive fresh content. Photolibrary are honored to have been selected before many of our contemporaries for this market leading collection. This is even more significant with the upcoming London Olympic games in 2012."
David Moncrieff, Head of Publishing for Visit Britain commented: “VisitBritain is delighted to be entering into partnership with such a dynamic and successful image business as the Photolibrary Group. We are confident that their professionalism and expertise will help to ensure that our imagery reaches a far wider market than has been currently achieved and thereby promoting an ever-more compelling picture of Britain as a leading destination for both domestic and overseas visitors".
Images previously available on the Britain on View website for free will now be collated together on the new www.visitbritainimages.com, website also hosted by Photolibrary. Members of the travel industry and the media can use the imagery to accompany positive editorial about British tourism and its destinations, attractions and experiences.
