That Will Expand International Distribution of the Studios' Extensive Online Digital Television Image Archive
- Burbank (CALIFORNIA / USA) – 16 JANUARY 2009 – NBC Universal has entered into a distribution relationship with SIPA Press, Europe’s leading news photo agency, that will make SIPA Press the major international distribution partner for NBC Universal archival television photos. The collaborative venture was announced today by Ray Slay, Senior Vice President, NBC Universal Photography and New Media, and Jonathan Wells, Bureau Chief of SIPA Press in New York.
The deal will make images from NBCU’s extensive online archive (NBC Universal Photo Bank, www.nbcuphotobank.com) available through the SIPA Press licensing website at www.sipa.com.
“NBC Universal Photo Bank is delighted to partner with SIPA Press to further expand our distribution opportunities in Europe,” said Slay. “We are looking forward to this valuable new relationship which will make NBC content even more readily available to our international clients.”
“SIPA Press is proud to be part of this new alliance with NBC Universal”, said Wells. “The images of the NBCU Photo Bank will allow us to provide our clients with one of the most extensive photo offerings in Europe.”
In July 2006, NBCU became the first major television or film studio to manage and market its own photo licensing and distribution with the creation of an in-house business unit and online photo archive, NBC Universal Photo Bank.
