LookStat Now With Image Sale History
After trying out LookStat for about one month I have to say: "I Love It!" I check my status of three microstock agencies in one place every day. This is saveing time!
Now they have just released a new feature which allows you to view the entire sales history for an image over it’s entire lifespan. You can drill down from all time to a single day and can filter transactions by site. To access the feature, just click on a thumbnail in your dashboard. They are working on creating a page that allows you to see all sales for a particular time period and that should be available shortly. Another addition was the implementation of daily intrusion testing with McAfee Secure. In terms of new features, Fotolia is the biggest one on the horizon. I am really looking forward to see more and more agencies working together with this site.

PANASONIC’S NEWEST TOUCH-SCREEN LUMIX DIGITAL CAMERA FEATURES FACE RECOGNITION AND INCREASED MEGAPIXELS
New LUMIX DMC-FX580 Packs a 25mm Ultra-Wide-Angle and 5x Optical Zoom Into a Touch-Screen Digital Camera Complete With New Advanced iA Mode
MIAMI, FL (January 27, 2009) – Panasonic today announces its newest touch-screen LUMIX digital camera, the slim and stylish DMC-FX580, a successor to last year’s DMC-FX500. The new DMC-FX580 features a 25mm ultra-wide-angle LEICA DC lens with F2.8 brightness, a 5x optical zoom and an increased recording image size from 10.1-megapixel to 12.1-megapixel. Using the popular touch-screen operation is easy with the DMC-FX580’s large 3.0-inch LCD, so both shooting and image playback is intuitive and smooth.
“With the new LUMIX FX580, Panasonic provides for our digital camera consumers, by offering a touch-screen model, for those users who are accustomed to touch-screen technology,” said David Briganti, National Marketing Manager, Imaging, Panasonic Consumer Electronics Company. “With the FX580, we remain true to Panasonic’s commitment to providing high-quality photos, by advancing our Intelligent Auto mode and using a bright Leica DC lens, we want to help consumers capture beautiful photos, regardless of their interface preference.”
Though featuring a touch-screen, the FX580 uses a hybrid operation system combining the new touch-screen interface and a conventional operation system with the cursor key for intuitive control. Taking advantage of both operation systems, users can set the Auto Focus (AF) and Auto Exposure (AE) at the desired part of the frame by simply touching the subject on the screen while recording. In manual exposure mode, aperture and shutter speed can be adjusted by moving the slider. Users can also make fine adjustments to white balance and color temperature with the touch screen. In playback mode, simply slide a finger across the screen to activate touch scroll for viewing images. An Easy Organization menu is provided to simplify image organizing so the user can quickly select an image to view and edit with the touch menu.
The LUMIX FX580 features Panasonic’s iA (Intelligent Auto) mode, a system of technologies, such as MEGA O.I.S., Intelligent ISO Control, Face Detection, AF Tracking*1, Intelligent Exposure and Intelligent Scene Selection, that engage automatically, without the user having to adjust any settings. New in 2009, Panasonic’s advanced iA adds Face Recognition, a feature that recognizes individual faces, making it a “personal verification system” in the digital camera*2. Face Recognition allows a user to give AF and AE priority to a single person in a group, ensuring that a person’s face will be beautifully exposed.
With Face Recognition, when a familiar face is recorded several times, the camera will prompt the user to register the face. Once registered, if the familiar face appears in the frame again, the camera will display the name specified for that person and prioritize focus and exposure so that the face is bright and sharply focused. During registration, the user can change the icon that indicates when the registered subject is in focus and the person’s age can also be added. In playback, users can choose to display only photos that contain a specific registered face using Category Playback, so organizing and viewing photos is much easier.
Panasonic’s newly developed Venus Engine V processor integrates these advanced functions and controls the camera’s operation with high speed, high performance, and low-power consumption. The Venus Engine V has twin CPUs to boast approximately 2.4x processing capability and also supports a High Sensitivity mode that lets the DMC-FX580 record at a setting of up to ISO 6400*3.
The DMC-FX580 can also record High Definition (1280 x 720p) motion images at 30 fps. And, using the DMW-HDC2 component cable (optional accessories), the video can output directly to a television, such as a Panasonic VIERA® HDTV, for easy playback.
Other features of the Panasonic LUMIX DMC-FX580 include:
· New Panorama Assist scene mode allows users to shoot a number of consistent photos, either vertically or horizontally, by aligning them according to a guide that overlaps the screen. Then using those photos and the bundled PanoramaMaker software, users can create dramatic panoramic images.
The DMC-FX580 features an aluminum body and available in silver and black starting in April 2009 for a suggested retail price of $399.95. For more information, please visit www.panasonic.com/lumix.

National Photography Contest also Awards Grand Prize Winners a Place in the Pro Football Hall of Fame
LAKE SUCCESS, N.Y., January 28, 2009 – Canon U.S.A., Inc., a leader in digital imaging, today announced that Stuart Steele, 47, of Kansas and Ben Queen, 13, of West Virginia have been named the winners of the Adult and Teen Divisions of the Canon and Pro Football Hall of Fame "Why Do You Love Football?" photo challenge, respectively. Each has won a trip for four to attend Super Bowl XLIII in Tampa Bay, Fla. where their winning photos will be displayed at the NFL Experience, the most exciting continuous event surrounding Super Bowl XLIII. NFL Experience is located adjacent to Raymond James Stadium the week leading up to Super Bowl XLIII. Additionally, both have won a trip for four to the 2009 Pro Football Hall of Fame Enshrinement Celebration in August where their winning photos will be unveiled and on display for a full year in the Hall of Fame.
This is the fourth year of the nationwide photo contest in which one Grand Prize winner from each division was selected. Fans could enter their photos in two categories, "Action" and "Feature." This photo contest allowed football and photography fans the opportunity to capture the passion and excitement of youth football by submitting photos of everything from a playful catch in the backyard to any youth, school or organized football game.
The photo submitted by Steele was captured during the third quarter of a local college championship game. In the photo, the wide receiver positioned himself at the five-yard line awaiting a pass from the quarterback only to have the moment spoiled by a spectacular leaping deflection by the defensive back. One of Steele's other photos was also a finalist in the "Action" category.
Queen's photo, "The Longest Yard," was captured during a Middle School game and features a single ball carrier dragging several defenders with others in hot pursuit. Much of Queen's inspiration for photography can be directly credited to Canon Explorer of Light and Sports Illustrated photographer Peter Read Miller, whose personal Web site and NFL photo tips have helped Queen develop his abilities as a photographer.
"Year in and year out this photo contest has grown to become a valued part of Canon's association with the National Football League," said Yuichi Ishizuka, senior vice president and general manager, Consumer Imaging Group, Canon U.S.A. "The excitement surrounding this contest further illustrates how enjoyable photography can be for people of all ages."
The judging panel reviewed more than 10,000 entries and included former NFL quarterback Archie Manning along with some of the world's top sports photographers including Peter Read Miller; 2007 and 2006 "Why Do You Love Football?" photo contest adult grand prize winner Diana Porter; Steve Apps of the Wisconsin State Journal; Scott Heckel of the Canton Repository; freelance photographer Dave Drapkin; and Tony Tomsic, a freelance sports photographer who has photographed every Super Bowl to-date.
The other finalists in the 2008 adult division included: Michelle Young, California; Scott Strine, New York; Jason Day, Michigan; Tom Manning, Virginia; Rich Barnes, New York; Scott Rohloff, Wisconsin; Regina Dunlavy, Indiana; Derek Johnson, Texas; Randy Owens, Texas; Robert DeForge, Michigan; Gary Jones, California; Cheryl Padget, Michigan; and Greg Kremer, Minnesota
The other finalists in the 2008 teen division included: Garreth Patterson, Alaska; Jessica Brown, Georgia; Quenton Rexroth, Pennsylvania (twice); Hailey Austin, Texas; Aaron Montes, Texas; Nam-My Le, Texas; Cody Tyler, Montana; Ryan Morris, California; Kristyn Russell, Kansas; Richard Gonzales, California; Samantha Cunningham, Texas; and Casey Jackson, Texas.

Kodak Selects Ohio Direct Mail Printer to Receive Industry’s First Stream Printheads
ROCHESTER, N.Y., January 27 -- Cyril-Scott Company, a Consolidated Graphics company located in Lancaster, OH, is set to become the first installation of Stream Printheads, Kodak’s new, much anticipated continuous inkjet solution for inline printing on an offset press. First demonstrated at drupa 2008, the Stream Printhead using KODAK Stream Inkjet Technology is a hybrid solution that provides a true bridge between offset and digital printing, extending the business and revenue opportunities of printers of all sizes and adding value to printed pages.
“KODAK Stream Inkjet Technology enables offset class reliability, productivity, cost of ownership, and quality with the full benefits of digital printing for commercial and transactional applications,” said Ronen Cohen, Vice President of Marketing, Inkjet Printing Solutions, Kodak’s Graphic Communications Group. “The changing nature of print and communications means that service providers must adapt to meet the needs of their customers, offering a variety of solutions that are best suited to address the individual needs of each project. The Stream Printhead is an ideal bridge between digital and offset.”
Cyril-Scott was founded in 1959 as one of the first inline finishing web printers and has built its business around innovating cost saving methods of print production for its customers. The company offers everything from design and prepress to printing and finishing, and as the first beta customer for the Stream Printhead, will bring its personalization services to the next level.
Cyril-Scott is installing four Stream Printheads mounted to a KODAK VERSAMARK DC3800 Printhead Carriage that is integrated inline with a web offset press, along with a KODAK VERSAMARK CS410 System Controller. The Stream Printheads will be used to print a U.S. Postal Service self-mailer, in addition to other direct mail applications.
“The Stream Printhead brings an exciting new capability to our full range of services,” noted Matt Coltharp, President of Cyril-Scott. “Personalized direct mail provides the best return on investment, and the ability to customize any mail piece at offset speed and quality will help us provide our clients with a real competitive advantage.”
The Stream Printhead, with flexible mounting options, integrates seamlessly with web offset presses and a variety of third party printing towers to add variable data to offset printed materials at 1,000 fpm (305 mpm) with a resolution of 600 dpi. With a print width of 4.16 inches and rich black pigment based inks that offer fade, scratch, and water resistance, the Stream Printhead increases throughput and eliminates the need for additional standalone equipment.
“The Stream Printhead is ideal for applications such as direct mail personalization, coupons, commercial gaming, and inserts,” added Cohen. “And because printers can now personalize a job in-house, they retain control of the quality and keep the profits for themselves. Cyril-Scott is a leader in the direct mail market, and I’m confident that the feedback we get from them will be invaluable in the commercialization of this product.”
Cyril-Scott has been a Kodak customer for more than 10 years. They currently operate 19 heat-set web presses that offer a wide variety of sizes and capabilities. The company has a strong presence in the bind-in market, while its innovative spirit has enabled it to develop and expand its capabilities and product line.
KODAK Products are backed by KODAK Service and Support.KODAK Service and Support is made up of more than 3,000 professionals reaching more than 120 countries. PANASONIC INTRODUCES WORLD’S FIRST*1 WATERPROOF, SHOCKPROOF AND DUSTPROOF DIGITAL CAMERA
WITH AVCHD LITE HD VIDEO RECORDING CAPABILITIES*2
New LUMIX DMC-TS1 Digital Camera Features Tough and Rugged Design for Capturing Still and Motion Images In Outdoor Activities
MIAMI, FL (January 27, 2009) – Panasonic today introduced the LUMIX DMC-TS1, the world’s first*1 waterproof, shockproof and dustproof digital camera*2 to also feature AVCHD Lite High Definition (HD) video recording capabilities*3. The TS1’s tough and rugged design makes it the ideal choice for active users needing the ultimate hybrid for capturing both still and motion images during outdoor activities. The LUMIX TS1, with a 12.1 megapixel resolution, features a 28mm wide-angle LEICA DC VARIO-ELMAR lens, a 4.6x optical zoom and Panasonic’s proprietary iA (Intelligent Auto) mode, making this an easy-to-use, yet powerful camera that packs advanced imaging features.
“Many consumers are hesitant to take their digital cameras on outdoor activities like skiing, hiking, boating or even a day at the beach, for fear it will be damaged. With the introduction of the LUMIX TS1, we offer a digital camera with a rugged design that consumers can feel confident using in these tough environments,” said David Briganti, National Marketing Manager, Imaging, Panasonic Consumer Electronics Company. “Even more, with the ability to take both beautiful high-quality still images and High Definition video, with AVCHD Lite, the TS1 offers a powerful one-two punch to capture memories that can later be shared with friends and family.”
The TS1 is waterproof to a depth of 10 feet, shockproof from falls up to 5 feet, and dustproof. With its rubber padding, reinforced glass and carbon resins inside the camera, the TS1 features an airtight body protected against water immersion, dust and sand.
Starting at the 28mm wide angle, and zooming up to a useful 128mm in telephoto, the TS1 gives users the flexibility for a variety of shooting environments – especially underwater, where movement is often restricted and the angle of view becomes important for composing shots. The TS1 also features a 2.7-inch, 230,000-dot Intelligent LCD with a wide viewing angle, enhancing visibility during recording and playback by automatic brightness control according to the environment’s lighting conditions. Plus, the TS1’s LCD panel is deliberately thickened for protection against pressure, allowing the display to operate with clear visibility even underwater.
The TS1 records AVCHD Lite HD video, allowing almost double the recording time in HD quality compared with the conventional Motion JPEG format. The TS1 also features Dolby Digital Creator to record high quality audio to match the high-quality motion images.
Also new in 2009, the TS1 features iA mode for both still images and in Movie Mode. For iA in Movie Mode, the TS1 features Optical Image Stabilization (O.I.S.), which helps prevent handshake when using high-powered zoom. Face Detection automatically detects a face in a frame and adjusts focus, exposure, contrast, and skin complexion on the face. Intelligent Exposure continually checks the ambient light level and adjusts the exposure setting as conditions change to prevent blown highlights and blocked shadows. And Intelligent Scene Selector automatically switches between Normal, Portrait, Macro, Scenery, and Low Light modes according to the situation to optimize visual quality. A Wind Cut function is also available to block out most of the noise from background wind. Optical zoom can be used in motion image recording. Users can start video recording by simply pressing a dedicated button on the camera's back panel.
The TS1’s iA for still image adds Face Recognition*4 – a feature that “remembers” faces from previous shots. When a registered face appears in the frame, the camera will prioritize focus and exposure to capture it beautifully. With Face Recognition, when a familiar face is recorded several times, the camera will prompt you to register the face. Once registered, if the face appears into the frame again, the camera will display the name specified for that person and prioritize focus and exposure so that the registered face is bright and sharply focused.
The imaging power of LUMIX has further evolved with the Venus Engine HD, which boasts two CPUs to provide approx. 2.4x processing capability and support for Face Recognition, AVCHD Lite and HDMI output. It integrates the numerous advanced functions with high performance, and low-power consumption. Thanks to the Venus Engine HD, it’s easy to view photos or movies recorded in AVCHD Lite. Simply insert the SD Memory Card from the camera in the Panasonic VIERA® HDTV’s Image Viewer SD Memory Card slot to start playback, or connect the camera via an optional HDMI mini cable to a VIERA Link™-equipped Panasonic VIERA HDTV and use the TV's remote control to run slideshows*5.
This multi-task image-processing engine also enables a fast response time. The TS1 starts up quickly in 1.3 seconds and shutter release time lag is approximately 0.005 seconds, making it easy to capture sudden, spur-of-the-moment photo opportunities. The Flash Burst mode makes it possible to take consecutive shots with continuous emissions of the flash*6. The Venus Engine HD also supports a High Sensitivity mode that lets the TS1 record up to ISO 6400*7, sensitive enough to capture subjects in near-total darkness without using a flash. Despite its outstanding performance, the high performance engine is also more energy efficient, extending the battery life up to 340 shots (CIPA) per a single charge.
The Panasonic LUMIX DMC-TS1 will be available in silver, green or orange models in April 2009 for a suggested retail price of $399.95. For more information, please visit www.panasonic.com/lumix.

PANASONIC’S NEW LUMIX ZS-SERIES, THE ULTIMATE COMPACT DIGITAL CAMERAS, SUCCEEDS POPULAR TZ-SERIES
New LUMIX ZS3, With Impressive 12x Optical Zoom is Slimmer Than Predecessor and Adds AVCHD Lite High Definition Video Recording Capability
MIAMI, FL (January 27, 2009) – Panasonic today introduced the LUMIX DMC-ZS3 and DMC-ZS1, both members of the new ZS-Series, the successor to the acclaimed LUMIX TZ-Series and Panasonic’s newest ultimate compact and powerful digital cameras. The LUMIX ZS3 features 10.1-megapixels, a 25mm ultra-wide-angle lens and 12x optical zoom, meaning it has added 2x optical zoom to the award-winning TZ-Series camera, yet reduced its size. The ZS3 also features a LEICA DC VARIO-ELMAR lens and High Definition (HD) video recording ability, known as AVCHD Lite.
“The LUMIX ZS3 is a powerhouse performer with enormous versatility. Compared with the TZ-Series, it extends the power of the optical zoom from 10x to 12x and expands the wide-angle lens from 28mm to an ultra-wide 25mm, giving it the range for virtually any shooting situations,” said David Briganti, National Marketing Manager, Imaging, Panasonic Consumer Electronics Company. “Despite its superior lens specifications and functionality, the ZS3 is remarkably smaller and lighter than its predecessors, making it easier to carry on travels and everyday shooting opportunities.”
The ZS3 is the world’s first digital camera to feature HD video recording in “AVCHD Lite*2”. Compared with the conventional Motion JPEG format, AVCHD Lite allows longer recordings with breathtaking HD visual and audio quality. This combined with a well-considered control interface, which includes a dedicated movie recording button on the camera’s back panel, makes the ZS3 a hybrid model that performs admirably for both still and motion image capture.
The ZS3 also expands Panasonic’s popular Intelligent Auto (iA) mode with the addition of Face Recognition – a feature that “remembers” faces from previous shots*1. When a registered face appears in the frame, the camera will prioritize focus and exposure to capture it beautifully.
With Face Recognition, when a familiar face is recorded several times, the camera will prompt the users to register the face. Once registered, if the face appears into the frame again, the camera will display the name specified for that person and prioritize focus and exposure so that the registered face is bright and sharply focused.
New this year to the ZS-Series, iA mode is also available in Movie Mode. It automatically selects the most suitable Scene mode and helps to correct handshake, focus and brightness problems - making iA mode your one-stop solution to capture beautiful still and motion images. In Movie Mode, the ZS3, Optical Image Stabilization (O.I.S.) helps prevent handshake when using the high-powered zoom. Face Detection automatically detects a face in the frame and adjusts focus, exposure, contrast, and skin complexion so it turns out perfectly.
The imaging power of LUMIX has further evolved with the Venus Engine HD, which boasts two CPUs to provide approx. 2.4x processing capability and support for AVCHD Lite and HDMI output. It integrates all the advanced functions and camera operations with high performance and low-power consumption. In image processing, luminance noise and chromatic noise are reduced separately before and after signal processing. This is further refined by separating noise two-dimensionally into high-frequency and low-frequency noise. The circuits then effectively reduce only the low-frequency noise to minimize the unwanted noise and help produce beautiful, sharp still and motion images.
Playback with the ZS-Series is also easy. Simply insert the camera’s SD Memory Card into the VIERA® HDTV’s Image Viewer SD Card slot for a photo slideshow*3. Alternatively, connect the camera via an optional HDMI mini cable, the DMW-HDC2, to a VIERA Link™-equipped Panasonic VIERA HDTV and use the television’s remote control to run mixed slideshows of photos and videos. The ZS3 features a 3-inch, high resolution 460,000-dot Intelligent LCD with a wide viewing angle, improving visibility during recording and playback.
Other features of the LUMIX ZS3 include:
Increased Scene modes for both still and motion image shooting – optimized for a variety of situations. There are 26 scene modes for still image and 17 for motion image (Portrait, Soft Skin, Transform, Self portrait, Scenery, Low light, Food, Party, Candle light, Sunset, High sensitivity, Beach, Snow, Aerial, Pin hole, Film grain and Underwater)
Two new My Scene settings let users assign their two most frequently used Scene modes to the setting, and with a simple switch, allow access to either scene instantly.
The ZS1, like the ZS3, features a 25mm ultra-wide angle, 12x powerful optical zoom. Distinguishing it, the ZS1 features a 10.1 megapixel CCD, a standard iA mode (no Face Recognition) for still image recording and a 2.7-inch, 230,000-dot Intelligent LCD.
The DMC-ZS3 will be available in silver, black, blue and red for a suggested retail price (SRP) of $399.95, while the DMC-ZS1 will be available in black and silver for an SRP of $299.95. Both models will be available in April 2009. For more information, please visit www.panasonic.com/lumix.
*1 Depending on background and facial expression, camera may not recognize a registered person. For family members with similar facial features, camera may not correctly identify the intended subject.

NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Getty Images is proud to announce that photojournalist Brent Stirton was named the International Photographer of the Year by the Lucie Foundation at the Sixth Annual Lucie Awards Gala, Monday evening, October 20, 2008 at The Lincoln Center in New York. Stirton’s documentary work for Newsweek, “Slaughter in the Jungle,” which first appeared as the cover story on August 6, 2007, captured the largest massacre of seriously endangered primates in over 40 years and brought international attention to an otherwise underground issue. In addition to receiving this prestigious award, Stirton’s captivating imagery was also recognized in multiple categories including:
“Getty Images is extremely proud of Brent’s achievements this year,” said Jonathan Klein, co-founder and CEO, Getty Images. “The Lucie Award is a significant honor that has recognized Brent’s dedication as a photographer to tell stories in the most powerful, yet respectful, manner.”
Stirton is the first Getty Images photographer to be nominated for and receive the Lucie Award for International Photographer of the Year, joining an elite list of past award-winning photojournalists including Annie Leibovitz and Cornell Capa. The Lucie Awards gather the photography community from countries around the globe at its annual gala ceremony to honor and pay tribute to the greatest achievements in photography.
Stirton’s evocative coverage of the gorilla killings in the Virunga National Park, Eastern Democratic Republic of Congo in July 2007, which was also published by National Geographic in August 2008, has garnered a number of awards this year, including:
* World Press Photo – First prize, Singles, Contemporary Issues
* American Photo – 2008 Photo of the Year
* Visa Pour l’Image – 2008 Visa d’Or for Feature Photography
* 4th China International Press Photo Contest – Nature and Environment News Stories
* Days Japan Awards – Second Place
* LeadAwards – Second Place
* Overseas Press Club Awards – Feature Photography Award
* PDN Photo Annual – Photojournalism/Sports/Documentary
* Pictures of the Year International – Multimedia Feature Story
* Prix de la Photographie – Feature Story
To honor the work of its photographers, Getty Images has developed an on-going series of podcasts featuring interviews with some of its award-winners sharing their experiences behind their imagery. The podcasts, including a recent discussion with Brent Stirton about how his coverage not only tells a powerful story but also prompts change, are available at: http://gettyimages.com/podcast.

Substantial growth of age fotostock and THP Photo Services portfolio of images in 2008
Barcelona (SPAIN), 15 JANUARY 2009 - age fotostock, the well known stock photo agency based in Barcelona, with sales offices in Madrid, New York, and Paris, has announced that it has closed 2008 with 8.6 million images in its portfolio, all of which are available through age fotostock's website, www.agefotostock.com, and to all the members of the THP Photo Services hosting platform.
"A lot has been discussed on how much is too much content, but at age fotostock, we believe that substantial quantities of images are key today in order to have a prevalent presence in the market. Clients are short of time and they need to search quickly and efficiently, with many options to choose from, and we are confident that we meet their expectations," said Teresa Alonso, International Sales Director of age fotostock.
In 2008, age fotostock has signed representation agreements with hundreds of new providers of images, both photographers and agencies from around the world. Through this effort, the company has added a total of 2.612.089 million new images to the portfolio from 334 different collections. This represents a 67.66% increase of the quantity of images compared with 2007 figures. age fotostock's efforts have focused conscientiously on adding content in identified areas of high demand, such as images of travel, food, ethnicity, lifestyle, and specialized historical collections, to serve the needs of a very diverse customer base.
Alexa Plourde, Content Manager at age fotostock, comments: "We are working hard to enrich the age fotostock images portfolio in order to position ourselves as one of the most varied and complete collections of images in the market. In 2008, we decided to focus on new content that would cover a very diverse range of topics; consequently, the diversity and uniqueness of the images that we represent has been key in setting us apart from the competition and shielding us from the cyclical convulsions of the market. Furthermore, even 2009 seems to be in a growth spurt, with over 175.000 new images uploaded so far from quite unique collections."
However, age fotostock efforts are not only focused on distributing collections from other stock agencies. The agency is also working diligently to enrich its own Rights Managed (RM) age fotostock and Royalty Free (RF) Pixtal collections. In addition to the large number of photographic productions the agency has done during 2008 with a number of different photographers, the volume of pictures the company received to be selected by contributing photographers reached a peak of 1,078,072 images, representing 19.42% more images than those received in 2007. However, after the strict edition process, only 11.87% (127.730 images) were finally accepted.
Alfonso Gutiérrez, CEO of age fotostock, and the person that for 36 years has been editing every image that the company receives from photographers, said, "...editing images is a way of life, you need to be alert on how the society is evolving, and what kind of subjects and approaches are becoming important in order to make sure that those demands are covered by what the photographers are submitting. Editing is both relaxing and enticing, especially since I'm still a very active digital photographer. However I can't forget to add that Anna Judy and Jennifer Paul help me by suggesting in a first review which images we can't miss." This editing and persistency has ended 2008 with a total of 775,942 images in the age fotostock RM and RF collection combined, making it one of the biggest, professionally edited, single collection in the world.
All images added during 2008, and many more, are available through age fotostock Spain and the large majority of them are also available through age fotostock America and age fotostock France. Moreover, all members of the THP Photo Services that distribute images using the technological platform are automatically benefiting from all the new content.

From beginner to the advanced photographer, this portable and inexpensive camera can take high-quality photos," said David Briganti, National Marketing Manager, Imaging, Panasonic Consumer Electronics Company. "The wide array of easy-to-use features and the powerful LUMIX lens make the DMC-LS85 an impressive entry-level camera and further reinforces Panasonic's goal to make digital photography a fulfilling and enjoyable experience for consumers at all levels."
The DMC-LS85 records video in WVGA (848 x 480) format at 30 frames per second in addition to standard VGA (640 x 480). The WVGA motion picture fits a wide-screen (16:9) TV perfectly. Furthermore, a 2.5-inch large LCD features 230,000-dot high resolution and Intelligent LCD function, which detects lighting conditions and controls the brightness level of the LCD to offer a display with the most appropriate clarity in any situation. Slideshows can be accompanied by music, courtesy of the newly added speaker, so users can view or show their photos with greater impact.
The DMC-LS85's internal memory has doubled in capacity, when compared to its predecessor the DMC-LS80, up to approximately 50MB. Due to the low energy consumption of the camera's Venus Engine IV processor, battery life has also been extended to shoot more than 270 photos (CIPA) with two AA batteries.
The DMC-LS85 will be available in silver, black and pink at a suggested retail price of $119.95 starting in April 2009.

The Sigma Corporation is pleased to announce the launch of new SIGMA 18-250mm F3.5-6.3 DC OS HSM on March 10th, 2009.
The SIGMA 18-250mm F3.5-6.3 DC OS HSM incorporates Sigma’s original anti-shake compensation function, with a 13.8 times zoom ratio. As opposed to having an anti-shake function in the camera body, this lens’s Hybrid Optical Stabilizer provides not only an anti-shake function for the camera body, but also compensates for image shaking in the view finder as the Optical Stabilizer is built in to the lens. Incorporating four Special Low Dispersion glass elements and three aspherical lens elements provides excellent image quality throughout the entire zoom range. This lens has a minimum focusing distance of 45cm (17.7 inches) at all focal lengths and a maximum magnification of 1: 3.4 reproduction ratio, making it ideal for close-up photography. An inner focusing system eliminates front lens rotation, making it suitable for use with circular polarizing filters and the supplied petal-type hood. Incorporating super multi layer coating reduce the ghost in the backlight photography.

PANASONIC INTRODUCES TWO NEW FS-SERIES CAMERAS TO POPULAR LUMIX DIGITAL STILL CAMERA LINE
LUMIX DMC-FS7 and DMC-FS15 Feature Enhanced Intelligent Auto Technologies to Combine Simple Operation with Slim, Stylish Design
SECAUCUS, NJ (January 16, 2009) – Panasonic today announced two new additions to its LUMIX FS-Series of digital cameras, the DMC-FS7 and the DMC-FS15. The FS models, a stylish sister line of the highly-acclaimed LUMIX FX-Series, combine easy operation with a slim and sleek look, enabling both beginner and advanced users to take beautiful digital photos with a model they can slip in their pockets.
The 12.1 megapixel DMC-FS15 features a 29mm wide-angle Leica DC VARIO-ELMAR lens with a 5x optical zoom. Panasonic has enhanced the Intelligent Auto Mode (iA) on the DMC-FS15 from the previous FS models to now include AF tracking and Intelligent Exposure functions in addition to Mega O.I.S., Intelligent ISO Control, Intelligent Scene Selector and Face Detection. AF Tracking enables the user to “lock” the focus onto a moving subject. The camera then automatically tracks the subject as it moves, keeping it in focus without the need to hold the shutter button halfway down. Additionally, Intelligent Exposure helps capture natural-looking images by suppressing blocked shadows and blown highlights. It continually monitors the light source in the shooting environment and automatically activates the backlight compensation function if it detects the light source is behind the subject.
The 10.1 megapixel DMC-FS7 features a bright F2.8 Leica DC VARIO-ELMARIT lens with 4x optical zoom and iA mode, comprised of four functions including Mega O.I.S., Intelligent ISO Control, Intelligent Scene Selector and Face Detection. Like the DMC-FS15, the DMC-FS7 also include a newly-added independent iA button on top of the camera that lets the user enter directly into the mode without going into the menu.
“These new additions to the LUMIX FS-Series incorporate a number of enhanced quality and convenience features that provide consumers with simple-to-use, intuitive cameras at an affordable price,” said David Briganti, National Marketing Manager, Imaging, Panasonic Consumer Electronics Company. “By combining Leica lenses, Intelligent Auto Mode and powerful image processing with a sleek and compact design, the FS Series cameras are ideal for consumers looking to take easy, high-quality photos on the go.”
Other features of both FS models include a Venus Engine IV processor, which enables an advanced processing system and quick response times. An intelligent LCD screen detects light conditions and automatically adjusts the brightness levels for viewing in sunlight and helps to preserve battery life. The new Photo Frame mode lets the user put attractive borders around photos, so when printed, they look like postcards in picture frames. Also, the new My Scene setting lets the user assign their most frequently used Scene modes to the setting, and with a simple switch, access that scene instantly. The FS-Series is also capable of recording WVGA (848 x 480) motion pictures at 30 frames per second in 16:9 wide-screen format, as well as standard VGA (640 x 480) format.
The DMC-FS15 will be available in silver, black and blue at a suggested retail price (SRP) of $199.95. The DMC-FS7 will be available in silver, black, blue, pink and green at an SRP of $159.95. Both models will be available in late March 2009. For more information, please visit www.panasonic.com/lumix.
