Canon U.S.A. Announces The 2010 Schedule For Canon Live Learning With Exciting New Educational Workshops

New EOS HD Video Workshops Focus on the Professional User

LAKE SUCCESS, N.Y., April 5, 2010 – Canon U.S.A., Inc., a leader in digital imaging, today announced the 2010 schedule of Canon Live Learning educational events. In addition to the successful EOS Immersion Seminars and Workshops, Canon has two new intensive workshops for the professional EOS HD video user, EOS Moving Image Workshop and Canon Cinema Caravan, led by respected professionals in the industry. Geared toward the professional user in film/video production and wedding/event videography, these new workshops answer the growing educational demands of those using Canon EOS HD video products on a regular basis, along with prospective users seeking expert-level guidance in this burgeoning field.

"The trend of consumers using the movie mode on SLR cameras is rapidly increasing," said Yuichi Ishizuka, executive vice president and general manager, Consumer Imaging Group, Canon U.S.A. "Our Live Learning Workshops are a great platform to help educate camera enthusiasts and professional users on the capabilities and advancements in the EOS product line while also providing tips and techniques to further their overall experience."

EOS Moving Image Workshop
The EOS Moving Image Workshop provides hands-on instruction from industry leaders who currently use Canon EOS cameras in professional film and video productions. Developed in conjunction with Createasphere, this workshop provides informative presentations, hands on shooting and coaching from industry-experienced instructors.

On day one of the three-day program, participants will be introduced to shooting video with EOS HD video cameras, with topics including camera operation and an overview of supporting aftermarket hardware and software. Day two incorporates extensive hands-on shooting as students learn optimal capture skills in a variety of common production scenarios. The final day is dedicated to post-production and workflow, highlighting output, color correction, off- and on-line editing and backup strategies. Beginning in late May, these workshops will be available on select dates in Los Angeles, Chicago, San Francisco and New York.

Canon Cinema Caravan, Workshops for EOS Storytellers
For the experienced wedding and event videography professional, the two-day Canon Cinema Caravan workshops will provide expert instruction on mastering the cinematic capabilities of Canon's HD video-enabled EOS products. In this two-day intensive workshop, instructors from stillmotion, a leading innovator in the use of EOS HD video products, will focus on the principles of video storytelling, connecting with subjects and imagery, selecting the best optics, overcoming common shooting challenges, working with light, audio configurations and techniques, post-production workflow and more. Hands-on shooting opportunities will be available during the session as well.

The six-city workshop tour kicks-off July 7th and 8th in New York followed by stops in Chicago, Las Vegas, Los Angeles and Portland. The final city will be selected via voting on the Cinema Caravan blog on the Canon Digital Learning Center.

EOS Immersion Seminar and Workshops
For this year's program, the two-day Canon EOS Immersion Seminar and Workshops have been expanded to 11 cities throughout the United States. Beginning in San Diego, Calif. on April 24th and running through November 14th for the last stop in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., the EOS Immersion Seminars will take place on Saturdays and be led by Canon Explorers of Light (EOL) and Canon's own Live Learning instructors. The day-long seminar covers advanced user techniques and demos for getting the most from the Canon EOS camera system, HD video basics with EOS, creative lighting techniques with the EOS Speedlite system, landscape photography tips and general techniques for improving one's photography overall.

Sunday is workshop day, featuring two separate opportunities for hands on learning in an intimate and fun environment with top instructors, top facilities and plenty of Canon-provided EOS loan equipment. Workshops will be offered in EOS HD video techniques and creative lighting with Canon's Speedlite system. From Canon EOS-1D Mark IVs to EOS 7Ds, users will be able to choose and learn with the camera body that best fits their needs while also experiencing Canon's award winning EF and EF-S lens lineup.

In the Exploring HD Video with EOS workshops, instructed by Canon EOLs Bruce Dorn or Bob Davis, depending on the city, the morning session will focus on camera configuration, stabilization, audio strategies and the basics of planning your shoot. In the afternoon, participants are able to experience hands-on shooting with the EOS HD platform, with help from the instructor and on-hand Canon experts.

For the EOS camera user interested in learning how to best use single and multiple flash configurations, the Creative Lighting with Speedlites workshop, instructed by professional photographer Jeff Greene, will provide a full day of intimate studio shooting, instruction and feedback. The workshop will be divided into smaller working groups where participants will learn professional techniques for improving the quality of their lighting through the use of Canon Speedlites, flash triggers and light modifiers.

EOS Destination Workshops
EOS Destination Workshops return to Canon Live Learning in 2010. Two- day workshops will be held in photographic gems such as Boulder, Colo., Moab, Utah, Yosemite, Calif. and other locations. Participants are able to choose from a variety of specialties with instructors such as EOLs Jennifer Wu, Tyler Stableford and Adam Jones with topics ranging from landscape photography to capturing the speed and majesty of thoroughbred racehorses in Kentucky. Whether spending the day in Arches National Park, on the beach shooting surfers, or the fall colors in Yosemite National Park, EOS Destination Workshop participants are sure to expand their portfolios and experience EOS photography at an exciting new level.
